British Europarliamentarian Nigel Farage, a fervent advocate of Britain’s exit from the European Union, indicated on Thursday that he might support the idea of a second Brexit referendum to silence opponents of the withdrawal once and for all. Proponents of remaining in Europe such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will never give up, the former leader of the anti-Europe United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) and of the Brexit campaign said on Channel 5 TV. They “will go on winging and whining and moaning all the way through this process,” Farage said. “So maybe, just maybe, I’m reaching the point of thinking that we should have a second referendum on EU membership.”
“It would kill off the issue for a generation once and for all,” he added on Twitter.
According to Farage, the percentage of people who voted in favour of the pullout would be “much higher” than at the referendum on the 23rd of June 2016, which supporters of the withdrawal won by 52% to 48% of the votes.
