A Belgian has been awarded the bronze medal at the Excel World Championship

A Belgian has become one of the world's top three Excel experts. After winning the Belgian championship of the discipline in November, Joke Vranken, a 31-year-old from Ghent, won the bronze medal at the world championship held last week, it was learned from Microsoft. She was the only woman on the podium.

Fourteen different nationalities were represented in the final round, which brought together 700 participants and was won by a Canadian followed by a Norwegian.

Joke Vranken, a data visualisation specialist, has more than ten years of experience with Excel, which she uses every day. "The international final was more difficult than the Belgian championship, so I was really happy to have gotten so far. It was also a very nice experience to be able to represent our little country", she commented, surprised by her performance.

The final consisted of three parts: a data relay race, graphic gymnastics and a battle of formulas.

The Canadian winner has won a trip to Seattle, USA, where he will work on the new version of Excel with the Microsoft development team.
