Electronics retailer Krëfel will reimburse thousands of clients the cost of their TVs if the Belgian national football team scores two goals tomorrow during the World Cup semi final tomorrow. Under a contest launched in April of this year to celebrate its 60th anniversary, the Belgian appliance retailer promised to refund all customers who had purchased a TV with them if the Belgian team scored than 15 goals during the World Cup in Russia.
The Red Devils, as the Belgian national team are known, are set to play the quarter finals against England tomorrow and have scored 14 goals until now, making it likely that the company will have to open its check book.
Customers eligible for the cashback must have purchased a TV with a screen that is 55 inches wide or over between 26 April and 17 June – either in a Krëfel store or through the retailer’s online website.
Although “thousands of customers” stood to receive cashbacks, spokesperson Bernard Hubert told the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws that the company did not regret launching the contest. “We have assumed from the beginning that the Red Devils would score more than 15 goals. We are prepared for this.”
