Palestinian committee in Hainaut region to defend rights of the disabled
Wednesday, 16 September 2015
10 years after the beginning of Palestine-Hainaut relations as part of a student exchange program, a Palestinian delegation has been visiting the Hainaut region since the beginning of the week. The purpose of this visit is to develop collaboration in a bid to increase media coverage and promotion of disabled people’s rights in Palestine.
The project will see the co-creation by the Hainaut region and the Bethlehem governorate of television and radio programmes destined to promote the rights of people with disabilities in Palestine and to enforce integration laws pertaining to people with disabilities. Since arriving on Monday, the Palestinian committee has seen how Hainaut communicates and mediatises, and has been to awareness workshops and role plays organised by the provincial Leuze-en-Hainaut High School.
The delegation was welcomed to the AWIPH in Montignies-sur-Sambre (Charleroi) on Wednesday to hear about and learn from the Walloon agency’s experience in different fields of awareness and inclusion. They also visited the Montignies-sur-Sambre Clinical School, one of the seven medical teaching institutes in the region, which supports adults in day care, young children who are not in school and under-18s.
