British musician Sting is being sued by two former members of The Police, who claim he still owes them royalties.
Sting, whose real name is Gordon Matthew Sumner, was the frontman of the legendary band, which was formed in 1977 and achieved global success with hits such as 'Every Breath You Take.'
While he reportedly received over £500,000 (about €579,000) annually in royalties for the iconic song, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland allege they were not credited for their contributions to its creation.
A spokesperson for Sting told 'The Sun' newspaper that the lawsuit was not related to 'Every Breath You Take,' but declined to provide further details.
According to 'The Sun,' Summers and Copeland filed their case at the High Court in London after attempts to reach a private settlement failed.
“They felt they had no other option but to take legal action. They claim they are entitled to millions in unpaid royalties,” an unnamed source told the newspaper.
