From 13 to 15 May, more than 2,000 artists in over 1,300 studios will open their doors for "Atelier in Beeld", a weekend where visitors can discover art in same place where it is made.

In Brussels, about 100 artists will be participating, Belga News Agency reports.

“There is no place more magical than the studio, where artists conceive their ideas, make sketches and try out new techniques,” the organisers of the event explained.

“It is a safe cocoon where artists can find inspiration and fiddle around, a place where visual work goes through an often searching process before it is 'finished.'”

Getting up close and personal with local artists

During the event, visitors can learn more about the artists' work process and sources of inspiration, and can also talk to them about their work in a personal and direct way.

“Atelier in Beeld is the perfect moment to discover surprising visual work by lesser-known artists in an accessible way and to enter locations that you would otherwise never be allowed to visit.”
