The eighth day of the Gentse Feesten attracted some 230,000 visitors on Friday, the highest number to date.

To compare, the eighth day of the previous edition in 2019, also a Friday, had 120,000 visitors.

A count of bicycles was also carried out and reached the figure of 46,000. “We are making a lot of effort to welcome cyclists during the Ghent Festivities, and with success,” said Alderman Bram Van Braeckevelt.

A total of 41,200 bicycles were parked in public areas and 5,500 in the two guarded parking areas.

Local police reported twelve fights on Friday evening.

Twenty people were arrested, five for disturbing public order. In addition, 121 people received an administrative fine for urinating in public.
