Hidden Belgium: De Lustige Velodroom

Hidden Belgium: De Lustige Velodroom

Kids love to lark around on wonky bicycles at the ancient wooden velodrome on Blankenberge beach.

The owner rents out 70 or so eccentric bicycles that are almost impossible to ride along the bumpy wooden cycle track.

Some kids join in the fun, while others like to stand at the side watching the madness.

This old wooden velodrome has been standing on the beach near Blankenberge pier since 1933.

Tickets cost just €3. But the velodrome might not survive much longer. The owner is looking for someone to take over this bizarre Belgian seaside attraction.
