"Le Monde de Demain," the six-part series on French hip-hop pioneers NTM is now available to watch on Arte's website before airing on their TV channel on October 20 and subsequently on Netflix.

Six 52-minute episodes on the rise of French rap duo Suprême NTM in the 1990s will air on European television in the coming months, as Arte and Netflix prepare to debut "Le Monde de Demain," the former's most costly series ever produced.

Long shunned by French television, the country's rap scene has become something of a phenomenon on the small screen, thanks to the recent successes of "Validé" on Canal+, the rap reality TV show "Nouvelle École" on Netflix, and "Supreme," a recent film that also retells the beginning of NTM's rise to stardom.

As a result, it is now up to the French-German media Arte to enter the fray with "Le Monde de Demain," a documentary that follows band members Kool Shen and JoeyStarr from their origins as breakdancers and graffiti artists to their first steps on stage.

Furthermore, the series strives for authenticity and creators went though hundreds of hours of testimonies and interviews, as well as involving Kool Shen and JoeyStarr in the process, who "had a right of inspection over all the episodes," according to the creators Hélier Cisterne and Katell Quillévéré.

"We fell at a moment when both (the duo's members) were talking to each other," Cisterne, stated. "It was this window of opportunity in their relationship, which has closed again today, that allowed us to develop the show," said co-creator Katell Quillévéré.
