Hidden Belgium: Petit Mercado

Hidden Belgium: Petit Mercado

The relaxed brunch spot Petit Mercado has brought a taste of Buenos Aires to a corner of Brussels.

The owners Pia and Mano returned from a trip to Argentina inspired by the local grocery stores where people sit drinking coffee or eating lunch. They created their own version in a corner shop in Saint-Gilles formerly occupied by a plumbing business.

The spacious interior is decorated with wooden floors, brick walls and a white tiled central bar. You can drop in for a coffee, a sandwich or a Brussels craft beer.

But you can also grab something from the shelves to take back home. The wines come from Titulus, the soups are by Karine & Jeff, and the coffee comes from Velvet roastery in Jodoigne.
