It is now possible to go online and request a code for a free PCR test after a positive self-test for the coronavirus, Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke said on Sunday.

Following the last Inter-ministerial Health meeting, this new tool is now expected to be launched properly from Thursday 27 January, according to Belga News Agency. But it can already be used via the “masante.be” site, where anyone who has done a self-test that turned out to be positive and wishes to obtain a code for a free PCR can find the required form.

Only the PCR test is valid for obtaining a certificate of recovery. With the online form, it is no longer necessary to be referred by a physician to obtain a code for the PCR test, as had been the case before.

“We insist that anyone who has had a high-risk contact and who has had a positive self-test must confirm it by PCR,” Minister Vandenbroucke said in a press release.
