Covid-19 related budget adjustments approved in committee

The House Finance and Budget Committee approved the first 2022 budget adjustment, Secretary of State for the Budget Eva De Bleeker announced on Tuesday .

A number of changes in the context of the health crisis were included, according to Belga News Agency.

In order to pay coronavirus support measures for employers correctly and in time, the National Social Security Office (NSSO) is planning major IT developments. The federal government has made €270,000 available to the institution.

Also as part of the health crisis, compensation for Infrabel and SNCB has also been planned for the first quarter of 2022, amounting to €1.25 million and €26.75 million respectively.

Within the framework of the Belgian projects within the European Recovery & Resilience Facility (RRF), €9.1 million of additional VAT funds have been planned.

Funding for offshore wind farm studies

Around €26 million has also been set aside for preliminary studies for the construction and operation of offshore wind farms in the Belgian North Sea.

Lastly, an increase of €39.9 million in funding for the PPS Social Integration was also announced. This money will be used in the first quarter to pay a bonus of €25 per month to beneficiaries of the right to social integration, the integration allowance, the income replacement allowance and the income guarantee for the elderly (GRAPA).
