After Bashir Abdi's bronze medal on Sunday, Nafissatou Thiam looks set to deliver gold to Belgium as she is currently leading the heptathlon competition at the World Athletics Championships.

Having arrived at the championships full of confidence, the two-time Olympic champion currently leads the standings after four races on Sunday.

Thiam ran a personal best in the 100m hurdles before winning the high jump, finishing second in the shotput and breaking her championship record in the 200m.

She will have to participate in three more events on Monday to secure her second World Title, following the one she won in London in 2017.

Thiam is not the only Belgian competing in the race; Noor Vidts, who finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last summer, is presently sixth in the rankings.
