Brussels Airlines has announced a new partnership with Antwerp-based pilot training centre, Skywings.

The programme will enable aspiring pilots to be recruited before they start their training. The airline – currently reporting record profits, serving more destinations and integrating new aircraft into its fleet – has teamed up with Skywings Flight Training to accelerate the training process for its pilots, known as First Officers.

Training for the first batch of students will commence in autumn, with the first pilots expected to join Brussels Airlines in 2026.

These recruits, enlisted before embarking on training, will be immediately prepared to acquire a 'Multi Pilot Licence', which certifies them to fly multi-pilot aircraft, such as those in the Belgian company's fleet. Training will also include simulator sessions and familiarisation with their future employer's procedures.

Once training is completed, these pilots, estimated to be between 20 to 30 annually, will join Brussels Airlines as First Officers on the A319 and A320 fleet.

Despite this programme, the airline emphasises it still welcomes students from other pilot training programmes due to its current high recruitment needs.
