A 20-year-old Indonesian sailor has lost his life at the port in Ghent.
The man, a crew member on a Dutch-flagged river vessel, was no longer on board the vessel upon arrival to the port.
In all likelihood, the sailor fell into the water. His lifeless body was recovered at around 2pm by the Ghent maritime police and firefighters.
An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
