Brussels to host European LGBT Police Association conference

Brussels will host the biennial conference of the European LGBT Police Association (EGPA) from 16 to 18 May.

The theme of this year’s event is “Stronger Together,” and organised by Rainbow Cops Belgium, which safeguards the rights of LGBT police personnel in Belgium.

Around 60 uniformed officers from 18 associations or services across 17 of EGPA’s member countries will be in attendance.

The conference is also open to members of the integrated Belgian police force and Belgian judiciary officials.

The conference aims to establish a platform to discuss advancements made in LGBTQIA+ rights for police officers and citizens across Europe, as well as effective practices and police training in this area.

Topics covered will underscore inclusion policies, victim assistance, relations between police and LGBTQIA+ associations, sexism and street harassment.

This marks the tenth conference of the EGPA. The previous edition took place in Athens in 2022.
