A new Brussels-based festival celebrating electronic music and societal discussions will run from 9 to 13 October.
Organised by Reset Brussels, the 'Abrupt' festival invites audiences to enjoy 12 concerts, six club nights, and six conferences "over five days of sonic and artistic innovation in iconic cultural venues” such as Bozar, Botanique, Saints-Michel-and-Gudule Cathedral, and C12.
The first acts announced include Chief Adjuah (also known as Christian Scott), CCL, Varg2TM, Maxime Denuc, SkyH1, and Mika Oki. Many more names are to be unveiled in the coming months, Reset Brussels says.
The name 'Abrupt,' identical in French, Dutch, German and English, incorporates the letters 'BRU' in reference to Brussels. It conveys a sudden, unexpected change, perfectly encapsulating the festival’s dynamic and surprising nature, Reset explains.
As part of its transdisciplinary approach, Abrupt aims to be “avant-garde, in search of innovative ideas and experiments,” according to the organisation.
The festival envisions itself as a space promoting dialogue, artistic expression, and sonic innovation, aiming to offer a “rich and diverse” line-up of local and international artists representative of contemporary music and reflective of today's dynamics.
