Over 10,000 enthusiasts flocked to Namur Citadel this weekend to explore the event which celebrates Medieval traditions and folklore.

In its fifteenth year, the event surpassed its previous attendance record, welcoming an additional 1,000 visitors compared to last year, announced the organisers on Monday.

This year's theme "When Kings Become History" saw featured dozens of performances by 500 artists.

The 10,614 attendees had the opportunity to experience horseback performances, flag-throwing exhibitions, and wander through a four-hectare space, enlivened by seven thematic zones peppered with historical campsites, stationary shows, games and riddles, workshops, exhibitions and an artisan market.

Although the Médiévales event has drawn to a close, the exhibition of fantastic medieval weapons and armour "Foraged in the Shadow, Brandished in the Light" will continue to be open at Terra Nova and the hangar until 29 September.
