A traffic accident on the E40 from Brussels towards the coast on Tuesday morning has led to severe delays on the roads.
The incident occurred shortly before 06:00 near the exit of Wetteren and blocked two lanes, leading to nearly two hours of traffic congestion by 08:00, reported by the Flemish Traffic Centre.
The centre advises against travelling through the area.
A lorry crashed into a safety barrier at the exit. Now, the severely damaged vehicle needs to be towed with the aid of a crane.
The Flemish Traffic Centre has yet to inform how long the disruption might last.
The lorry driver has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
