A man was hit by a tram in the Meir premetro station in Antwerp on Saturday afternoon, Het Laatste Nieuws reports. He was taken to hospital but his life is not in danger, the Flemish transport company De Lijn and local police confirmed.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident just before noon. Details surrounding the accident are still being investigated. No other casualties were reported.
"The cause of the collision still needs further investigation. We will hand over our CCTV footage to the police," said De Lijn spokesperson Ine Pieters.
The incident caused a brief halt in tram traffic for about 15 minutes before resuming normal operations. Delays are still possible, however.
