Walibi Amusement Park will welcome 2,750 underprivileged children on Friday, in celebration of Wallonia-Brussels Federation Day, non-profit organisation Arc-en-Ciel announced on Tuesday.
“Many parents from modest backgrounds cannot afford to pay for camps or vacations for their children, especially in summer,” Letitia Marchal, in charge of holiday stays and day trips at the youth organisation. “The same goes for institutions with children in residential care,” she added.
The amusement park therefore “opens its doors to underprivileged young people to offer them a day of thrilling experiences in a magical setting,” as it has done every year for the past 45 years.
To mark this 45th anniversary, the amusement park will give away 10 annual passes and 250 additional tickets, in addition to offering access to children from Arc-en-Ciel's member associations.
“Going on holiday or having access to leisure activities is a right that allows each young person to develop their potential, flourish, gain self-confidence, and become open to others,” the non-profit association stressed.
