Talks to form a Federal Government will resume at 09:00 on Thursday morning, after being interrupted earlier in the night at around 02:00. While no agreement has yet been reached, there has been no major breakdown either.
Belgium has been without a Federal Government for almost eight months, however, the final sprint is now in sight. Formator Bart De Wever (N-VA) brought the 'Arizona' negotiators together at 13:00 on Wednesday at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels, beginning a multi-day negotiation marathon, or 'conclave'.
Representatives from the right-wing N-VA, liberals MR, centrists Les Engagés, socialists Vooruit, and Christian Democrats CD&V are present.
On Friday, the formator Bart De Wever is expected to meet with the King, which is likely to be his last appointment with the sovereign.
