Belgian driver Maxime Martin secured a third-place start on the grid for the first round of the 2025 Intercontinental GT Challenge during the Bathurst 12-hour qualifying session held overnight from Friday to Saturday in Australia.
Austrian Lucas Auer clinched pole position with a time of 2:01.276, driving the Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Craft-Bamboo Racing alongside German Maxi Götz and Australian Jusuf Ojeda. The Audi R8 LMS No.183, driven by Feller, Talbot, and Feeney, will start in second position.
Martin is the highest-ranked Belgian, with the Brussels native’s Mercedes-AMG No.888 starting in third position. The German driver Maro Engel was responsible for the super pole qualification.
The best car from Team WRT, the BMW M4 GT3 No.32 driven by Brazilian Augusto Farfus and South Africans Kelvin and Sheldon Van der Linde, secured the fourth starting position.
Belgian Alessio Picariello narrowly missed qualifying for the super pole. The driver from Charleroi will start 11th in the Porsche 911 GT3-R No.911 for the Asian team, Absolute Racing. Picariello’s teammates are Turkish driver Ayhancan Güven and Australian Matt Campbell.
Charles Weerts will begin the race in 12th position with the BMW M4 GT3 No.46 for Team WRT. The driver from Aubel shares the car with Italian Valentino Rossi and Swiss Raffaele Marciello.
The Bathurst 12 Hour race will begin this evening at 19:45 Belgian time.
