Brussels Airport and the Colruyt Group are among 39 projects selected on Thursday by the European Commission to develop alternative fuel infrastructures.

The Commission is granting €422 million in subsidies for the construction of around 5,000 electric charging points for light commercial vehicles and trucks.

Additional plans include 35 hydrogen refuelling stations, green infrastructure for nine ports, and the electrification of eight airports.

Brussels Airport will receive €7.2 million to electrify its ground support services, while Colruyt will receive over €6 million for public truck charging stations.

The largest share, nearly €94 million, goes to Milence, which aims to build and deploy hundreds of high-capacity public charging points in nine countries, including Belgium, by 2027.

The EU fund associated with this programme still needs to select additional projects worth €578 million.
