A fire broke out at an industrial building on Brechtsebaan in Schoten on Saturday morning, causing the structure to go up in smoke.
The fire brigade was still actively managing the scene at 9:30, although the fire was under control. Mayor Maarten De Veuster of Schoten confirmed this information.
“We advise residents to keep windows and doors closed, but this won’t be necessary for much longer,” De Veuster stated. “The smoke has significantly reduced and everything is under control.” The fire started early on Saturday morning, around 6:00. Firefighters have entered the building to locate the source of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains unclear at this time. No one was injured.
