The public prosecutor’s office of Halle-Vilvoorde is investigating a November 2024 incident in Zaventem, in which a bullet pierced the bedroom window of a fifteen-year-old girl.

The prosecutor’s office confirmed the investigation after Het Laatste Nieuws reported on the incident on Sunday.

Police arrested three suspects, one of whom remains in custody.

The incident occurred during the night of 10-11 November last, on Lenneke Marelaan in Zaventem.

A fifteen-year-old girl living on the ninth floor of a flat was startled by a loud bang, then noticed that her bedroom window had been shattered. Her parents immediately alerted the police, who found a bullet lodged in the bedroom wall.

The investigation quickly revealed that the bullet was fired from an apartment across the street.

Police found three men partying and using drugs in the apartment. The three suspects were arrested and charged with attempted murder, drug trafficking within a criminal organisation, and possession of a firearm without a licence.

Two of the suspects have since been released by the Brussels Chamber of Indictment.

The third man, who admitted to firing the shot while drunk, remains in custody.
