Belgian telecoms provider, Proximus, has signed a multi-year agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to modernise and streamline its international operations.

The company announced the partnership in a press release, highlighting its commitment to advancing cloud-based solutions and artificial intelligence.

As part of the collaboration, Proximus will use AWS services, including generative AI technologies, to accelerate its digital transformation. "This is in line with our ambition to become a global leader in digital communications, digital identity and connectivity," the company said, describing the initiative as a modernisation journey.

A key example of this modernisation effort is Roubot, a customer chatbot developed using Amazon Bedrock, an AWS tool that gives IT developers access to different AI models.

Proximus is a major provider of digital services and communication solutions in Belgium and internationally.

In Belgium, it operates under the Proximus, Scarlet and Mobile Vikings brands, while in Luxembourg it serves customers through Proximus Luxembourg SA under the Tango and Telindus Luxembourg brands.

In the Netherlands, it operates through Telindus Nederland. Globally, it operates through BICS, Telesign and Route Mobile.

In addition, Proximus Accelerators, the company's IT ecosystem comprising Be-Mobile, ClearMedia, Codit, Davinsi Labs and Telindus, supports companies in their digital transformation efforts.
