Flemish public transport company De Lijn will increase its fares from 1 April. The standard ticket price will increase from €2.50 to €3, the company announced on Friday.
Two weeks ago, the Flemish Government set the fare framework, mandating an average increase of at least 18.37% across all tickets to counterbalance recent inflation.
From 1 April, the cost of a 10-ride ticket will increase from €17 to €21, and the daily ticket will go from €7.50 to €9 (€4 to €4.50 for children).
The price increase for the Buzzy Pass subscription for young people will be limited, with the cost remaining the same for those aged 18 to 24 at the regional government's request.
Social fares will also see limited increases, as these are the only prices still regulated by the authorities.
There will also be several practical changes from 1 April. The operator fee for an SMS ticket will increase from €0.15 to €0.25, and the validity period for products on an electronic card will be reduced to one year.
