Gunfire-like sounds were reported in the Matonge district of Ixelles on Sunday morning, according to Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police, confirming information from the Dutch-language media outlet Bruzz. No casualties have been reported.

At around 5:15 on Sunday, the police received several calls about gunfire near Longue-Vie Street and Rue de la Paix in the Matonge district. Units from the Anti-Aggression Brigade and the Territorial Intervention Brigade responded immediately to the scene. Two security perimeters were established to secure the area, resulting in traffic being halted in the sector until 10:00.

The ongoing investigation is being led by the local police of the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles zone, with support from technical services conducting ballistic analyses on-site. “The investigation is active and all leads are being explored,” said Ilse Van de Keere, the police zone spokesperson.

Evidence of the incident can be seen on Rue de la Paix, where several impact marks have been identified and marked with numbered tags. A bullet pierced a front window, and a black minivan parked nearby was also damaged, as observed by Bruzz.
