A spontaneous strike over an assault incident against Walloon public transport staff erupted on Wednesday morning at the depots of Robermont, Jemeppe, Omal, Oreye, Bassenge, Wanze, and Rocourt.

This resulted in no buses operating from these locations, and the tram service was also halted, according to a statement from TEC Liège-Verviers.

Depots in Verviers, Eupen, and Warzée are continuing to operate. However, TEC warns that the situation could change and advises checking updates on its website (letec.be).

TEC expresses understanding of the emotional reaction following the attack.

"No assault on staff members can be tolerated," they stated, but they regret "the unannounced nature of this action affecting our customers." They recommend passengers find alternative transportation on Wednesday morning in the Liège region.

On Tuesday, two intoxicated individuals ended their journey at the Oreye depot on line 147. They assaulted the driver and a colleague who came to assist, according to TEC.

"The colleague was struck and required hospitalisation. Police and inspectors arrived at the scene. An ambulance was called, and the individuals were apprehended. A complaint has been filed, and TEC is providing the authorities with all relevant materials, including bus camera footage, to aid in the investigation," the transport company confirmed.
