The Romanian telecom company Digi, which has been active on the Belgian market since the end of last year, acquired 53,000 customers in Belgium in the first three months, the company announced in its quarterly results on Thursday.

No information has been provided about turnover and profits in Belgium, as the Belgian activities are not consolidated due to a joint venture with Citymesh.

Digi launched a competitive offer in December: €5 per month for unlimited calls and text messages and 15 gigabytes of data. The company uses Proximus' 4G network and is currently working on its own network.

However, reports of problems at the company have recently surfaced, including issues with billing and customer service. Telecommunications Minister Vanessa Matz (Les Engagés) spoke to Digi on the matter.

In addition to Belgium, the company is also active in its home country of Romania, as well as Spain, Portugal and Italy. In the first three months, it generated €532 million in revenue and a net profit of €6.8 million.
