Masked man stabs cyclist in Sonian Forest in Uccle

A cyclist was stabbed in the Sonian Forest in Uccle on Friday afternoon, as confirmed by the Brussels prosecutor’s office on Saturday following reports from Het Laatste Nieuws.

According to the newspaper, a witness walking in the Sonian Forest near the monument commemorating the victims of the 22 March 2016 attacks, on Drève de l’Infante in Uccle, was alerted by a group surrounding a cyclist. The witness shared on social media that the victim reported being stabbed by a masked individual.

The Brussels prosecutor’s office spokesperson, Rym Kechiche, confirmed the stabbing incident. “The victim received ten knife wounds and is in intensive care, but their life is not in danger,” Kechiche stated.

The spokesperson added that the motive for the crime is “unknown.” The investigation is ongoing to ascertain the exact circumstances and motive, and to identify the perpetrator.

No suspects have been apprehended at this time.
