A person was injured in a stabbing incident on Friday evening in the Brussels district of Ixelles, according to various media reports, with the local Brussels police confirming the news.
Police spokesperson Ilse Van de Keere stated, “On 16 May, at approximately 22:40, our services intervened in a stabbing incident on Generaal De Gaullelaan in Ixelles, where there were reports of knife wounds.” Police teams quickly arrived on the scene and established a perimeter. They found a victim, who was taken to hospital with injuries and has since been discharged.
The perpetrator or perpetrators had fled before the police arrived and have yet to be identified or apprehended. “The investigation is still ongoing,” the spokesperson added. “The motive behind the stabbing remains unclear for now.”
