A rock climbing accident in Pont-à-Lesse, Dinant, left one person dead and another seriously injured just before 13:00 on Saturday, according to the Namur Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The gravely injured climber is no longer in life-threatening condition. The equipment used by the climbers is not believed to be involved in the incident.
The prosecutor’s office suggests that the mishap might be due to human error. An investigation is ongoing to determine responsibility.
The two climbers, who hailed from the province of Antwerp, were climbing at a designated site in Pont-à-Lesse when they fell.
One of the climbers died, while the other sustained serious injuries.
