The tables for the 14th edition of the ‘Dinner in the Sky’ gastronomic event will rise into the air over the Battle of Waterloo domain from Thursday. For 32 days, 32 renowned chefs will be taking to the skies in succession to prepare three dishes a day.
Suspended 50 metres above the ground, 32 food lovers seated around eight round tables will be offered a five-course menu prepared by Christophe Pauly ('Le Coq aux Champs '* in Tinlot), Glenn Verhasselt ('Sir Kwinten'** in Lennik) and Giovanni Bruno ('Senzanome'* in Brussels).
This year, five female chefs will be in the spotlight: Stéphanie Thunus ('Au Gré du Vent'* in Seneffe), Isabelle Arpin ('L'Auberge de Leignon' in Ciney), Marie Trignon ('La Roseraie'* in Modave), Mélanie Englebin ('Cecila' in Ottignies) and Manon Schenck ('La Table de Manon'* in Durbuy).
Several young chefs will also be taking the floor of this four-metre-long central kitchen, including Martin Volkaerts ('L'Amandier' in Genval), Mathieu Vandevelde ('Le Roannay'* in Stavelot) and Grégoire Gillard ('Barge'* in Brussels).

Additionally, more affordable cocktail sessions are being organised on Saturdays and Sundays at 15:00, featuring three drinks created by bartenders, accompanied by three tapas courses. The programme includes Edouard Silverhands ('Soma' in Ixelles), 'Barracuda' in Ixelles and head sommelier Glen Ramaekers.
Since 2006, this unique concept of a temporary restaurant has been a regular fixture in the skies of Belgium. In Brussels, it has already taken place at the Mont des Arts, Parc du Cinquantenaire, Place de Brouckère, in front of the Koekelberg Basilica and at the Atomium.
With this concept, dreamt up almost 20 years ago, Brussels-born David Ghysels' main ambition is still to showcase Belgium's thriving gastronomic scene.
'Dinner in the sky' will be in Waterloo from 22 May to 22 June. More information can be found on the website.
