The Office of the Public Prosecutor at the Turnhout Correctional Court on Friday requested a 12-month prison sentence for a 31-year-old Antwerp man accused of assault.

On 14 June 2024, the man, who was a bus driver for De Lijn at the time, got into an altercation with a moped rider while driving to the De Lijn depot with no passengers on board.

After their argument, the driver swerved his bus to the left while the victim was overtaking, resulting in a collision.

The moped rider recorded the incident, which was also witnessed by a third party.

The court will deliver its verdict on 20 June.
