Contemporary art will take over Antwerp from Thursday as the city gears up for the 11th edition of Antwerp Art Weekend.
The multiple aspects of contemporary art will be showcased at the four-day festival through exhibitions, activities, and events across 70 locations in the city.
The Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp (M HKA) will serve as the central hub and information point for the festival. Museums, galleries, and independent artists’ studios will collectively host a total of 80 exhibitions, 15 performances, and seven lecture sessions. Special guided tours and festive events will also be part of the programme.
Antwerp Art, the initiative behind the event since 2014, aims to promote the contemporary art scene and encourage collaboration between established institutions, such as museums and galleries, and emerging artists and art schools.
