An 18-year-old man was injured on Wednesday evening in East Flanders after fleeing a police check, according to the East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred around 22:30 on Driegaaienstraat in Sint-Niklaas. Police had received a report of "disturbance by scooters."
A police patrol responded, but one of the scooters attempted to escape.
During the pursuit, the scooter collided with a parked vehicle after striking the curb and losing control.
The 18-year-old was seriously injured. "He is in hospital and will be questioned once his medical condition allows," said a spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office
