Pedestrian hit by police car in Brussels on Saturday

A police vehicle on duty struck a pedestrian on Saturday afternoon near Place Princess Elizabeth in Schaerbeek, the Brussels-North police zone reported on Monday.

The incident occurred at around 15:30. A police car from the Brussels-North police zone was responding to a call when it hit a woman walking on the pavement at the junction of Place Princess Elizabeth and Avenue Emile Zola.

Emergency services quickly attended to the victim, taking her to hospital for necessary treatment. Her life is not in danger.

Officers from the Brussels-Capital Ixelles police zone arrived at the scene.

"It is standard procedure for another police zone to carry out the investigation," explained Audrey Dereymaeker, spokesperson for the Brussels-North police zone.

The details surrounding the accident are still under investigation.
