A new application, CPAS Online, now allows individuals to submit an initial request for assistance from a CPAS, the Social Integration Public Programming Service (SPP IS) announced on Monday.

The SPP IS emphasises that this modernisation is unrelated to the reform plans of the current Federal Government.

Previously, only a few CPAS offices offered the option to apply online, described by the SPP IS as “individual initiatives.” This has now become a nationwide reform, enabling online applications to all CPAS offices across the country.

Individuals can submit an initial assistance request through a digital form available on the application.

The SPP IS highlights benefits for applicants, such as eliminating the need to schedule an in-person appointment, and denies any connection between this update and the De Wever government’s plans.

The Federal Government intends to limit unemployment benefits to a maximum of two years, prompting some CPAS offices to anticipate a surge in people seeking social integration income from next year.

"This implementation originates from legislation passed during the previous session, voted on before the new government’s projects emerged," the SPP IS clarified.
