The number of bankruptcies in Belgium increased by 7.13% year on year in May, when 902 were recorded, according to the latest monthly report from commercial information bureau GraydonCreditsafe.
In Flanders alone, the number of bankruptcies reached a record high of 570 in May .
In the first five months of this year, 4,889 companies declared bankruptcy in Belgium, 3.45% more than in the corresponding period last year.
This is the highest number of bankruptcies recorded in the first five months of a year since 2013.
