There will be no transitional measures for tax benefits that will be reduced or eliminated this year, Belgium’s Finance Minister Jan Jambon’s office confirmed on Tuesday following a VRT report.

The government plans to reduce the tax deductibility of donations from 45% to 30%. This measure, pending parliamentary approval, would be retroactive from 1 January 2025.

Arizona is similarly adjusting other tax benefits, including those for alimony, staff expenses, and legal protection insurance.

Finance Minister Jan Jambon reiterated the absence of transitional measures during the WinWin programme on Radio 2, a statement confirmed by his office to Belga.

However, discussions regarding the tax deductibility of donations are ongoing with the consumer organisation Testachats, which has called for transitional measures to prevent abrupt implementation.
