Around twenty anti-fur activists from the Belgian Anti-fur Movement (BAM) staged a protest on Saturday afternoon outside a Louis Vuitton store in Knokke-Heist, on the coast.
The activists were armed with banners and visual materials highlighting Louis Vuitton’s use of fur. They shared images depicting animal cruelty within the fur industry.
Passers-by were encouraged by the activists to email Louis Vuitton’s headquarters in Paris, urging the company to cease using fur.
BAM highlighted that Louis Vuitton is part of the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) conglomerate. Five brands within this French company still purchase fur: Louis Vuitton, Dior, Berluti, Fendi, and Loro Piana.
According to BAM, while other brands have eliminated fur, these five continue to produce, import, and sell fur products online. They are viewed as the last major players in the industry that need to abandon fur to trigger its collapse.
This protest is part of a global campaign against LVMH and the fur industry. Similar demonstrations have been organised in several countries in recent months targeting the five LVMH brands still using fur.
The campaign is set to continue in various locations worldwide.
