Nine people were sent to hospital after a fire broke out in an apartment building near Antwerp's Stadspark, according to local police.
Most of the individuals were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation checks, but one resident suffered burns during an attempt to extinguish the flames.
The fire reportedly started around 03:30 on Thursday at the rear of a fifth-floor apartment on Quellinstraat. The apartment has been deemed uninhabitable following firefighting efforts.
Residents are currently staying with family or friends, while occupants of other apartments have since returned home.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, but preliminary findings suggest it was accidental.
