The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) has issued a weather warning for high winds in West Flanders on Friday evening.

A line of thunderstorms with strong gusts of wind is expected to pass over the western part of the country on Friday night, bringing heavy showers and possibly hail.

The emergency number 1722 has been activated for non-life-threatening situations. For emergencies that may be life-threatening, 112 can still be called.

Those needing assistance from the fire brigade, such as for storm and water damage, can submit a request via the e-counter at www.1722.be or by calling 1722.

The public is encouraged to use the e-counter to avoid overburdening emergency hotline 112, ensuring help is prioritised for those in immediate danger.
