UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern over escalating violence between Israel and Iran, calling for peace and diplomacy to prevail.
Iran launched a series of retaliatory missile attacks on Israel from Friday to Saturday, resulting in over sixty injuries. A sixty-year-old woman critically injured in the attacks later died, and a sixty-five-year-old man remains seriously wounded, according to The Times of Israel, citing Magen David Adom, Israel’s counterpart to the Red Cross.
Earlier, Israel claimed it targeted more than two hundred sites in Iran. Iranian UN Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani reported that these strikes left 78 people dead and over 320 injured.
