Several streets in the centre of Antwerp have been cordoned off due to an oil spill on the roadway. The police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
Disruptions are expected to last all day for both cyclists and pedestrians. The oil spill is located near Groendaalstraat, Lombardenvest, and Steenhouwersvest. Firefighters and the Civil Protection have applied a substance to absorb the oil, but it needs time to take effect.
Many streets will remain closed to cars for the time being, according to local police.
