Iran’s Foreign Minister has expressed willingness to halt missile attacks on Israel, provided Israel also ceases its attacks.
The announcement comes after three consecutive days of regularly exchanging missile strikes. Iran describes its strikes as “purely in self-defence and in response to aggression,” according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as reported by the state-run news agency IRNA. During a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Tehran on Sunday, Araghchi stated, “If the aggression stops, our response will also cease.”
Araghchi regretted the cancellation of the planned nuclear talks with the United States in Oman on Sunday. “Today, we were supposed to present our own proposal for a nuclear agreement with the US, which could have paved the way for a deal,” he said. Washington and Tehran have been engaged in negotiations over Iran’s controversial nuclear programme for roughly two months, with Oman acting as a mediator.
