The Federal Judicial Police of East Flanders arrested two couples on 12 June for allegedly involved in human trafficking using fake music groups.
A 54-year-old man from Kruibeke is still being held under the instruction of the investigating judge in Dendermonde, according to the Federal Police.
The suspects reportedly facilitated travel for Africans, mainly from Burundi, to Eastern Europe under the guise of them being part of folk music groups.
Afterwards, the victims were irregularly transported to Western European countries, including Belgium and Germany.
The police launched the investigation following anonymous tips.
Earlier this month, a suspect was already apprehended in the same case in Finland.
The other three suspects have been released after questioning. The exact number of victims is still unknown.
