In 2024, 66,415 Flemish individuals obtained their Category B driving licence, a decrease from 76,730 in 2014, according to figures requested by De Zondag from the Federal Public Service for Mobility.
Thomas Van Coillie from Federdrive, the federation of recognised driving schools, attributes the decline in issued licences to the fact that not everyone starts driver training at the age of eighteen.
The number of Category B driving licences issued in Flanders has been decreasing every year since 2014. A similar trend is evident in Brussels, where 10,505 licences were issued last year, down from 11,957 in 2014. However, Wallonia saw an increase in 2024, with 41,001 licences issued compared to 39,945 in 2023.
